Help Your Brother Along the Way

The portion this week is called Behar “On the Mount”. The cycle of sacred seasons begun in previous portion; are continued in this portion. If the land belongs to God, we must conclude that it is but on loan to us in order to provide for our needs. Considering that we are formed from the dust of the earth, this life is not mine. It also is also on loan from the Creator, designed ultimately to perform His Will. Like the weekly Sabbath, the sabbatical year was to be a time that allowed for spiritual growth.
