Miketz
The tenth reading from the book of Genesis is named Miketz (מקץ), which means "at the end." This parsha begins with Pharaoh's dreams, Joseph's interpretations of those dreams, and his rise to power in the land of Egypt. Joseph's brothers come to Egypt seeking grain during a famine in the land of Canaan, but do not recognize him. Joseph creates a way to test the character of his brothers. This is a fascinating portion, not only for the amazing story, but for the prophetic elements. Understanding that we interpret the end from “the beginning” (Isa. 46:8-10), that a torah portion is called “at the end” should grab our attention.
