The Danger of Double Vision
The menorah is the lamp of the Sanctuary. In a practical sense it provided light. From time to time, the bowls had to be cleaned; wicks replaced; oil replenished. All of this was necessary so that the purpose could be served. God prepares us for service and, in a manner of speaking, opens a door through which we must be prepared to enter if we are to function in our purpose.
In Numbers 11:17 we see the Father placing His Spirit upon 70 elders of Israel to help Moses carry the burden of leading the people. They did not operate in the same position but the same Spirit in order for them to function in their purpose. In every congregation there must be a vision, a sense of purpose and direction. The Father always provides a window of opportunity for us to serve. He wants us to be united in one body, under Messiah with one spirit and one hope. We, as a body cannot pull in different directions. Trials will come. Hardships will come. We must endure because He is preparing us for a great purpose. Only by enduring and overcoming will we know it when that time comes. Until that time comes our eyes must be on Messiah; be of single vision — His vision for you.
