Useless Chert or Useful Dirt?
This weeks portion Emor comes from the word (Amar) which means “to speak.” Certain restrictions are placed upon the priest in regard to their service in the Sanctuary. We must exercise discretion where our surroundings are concerned if we long to draw near to the Father. He is Holy, therefore we must be Holy. The closer we get to Him, the more self-denial increases. This is nothing new. If we are to follow Him, it will cost us everything. To most, this sounds unfair to the worlds standards but we do not operate according to their standards. In order for His seed to germinate within us and to take root as Holy individuals, we must make sure “the ground” is fertile. What we say, what we do and how we think effect everything in this walk. We have to be willing to pay the price to be in His Presence, no matter what that looks like. The standard by which we act upon and by the measure we act it out, will be returned to us.
