Do You Hear What I Hear?
As a child, I remember being in the classroom and hearing the teacher give out instructions on assignments. I would hear her talking but not understand what was always being said, mainly because I wasn’t truly taking to heart what was being taught. In this week’s portion, we read about Gods ordinances or judgements given to Israel. He always wants what He says to be internalized and lived out for others to see. Many times when the Father is speaking to us we are quick to say,”We will hear and do”, but fall short of it resonating within our hearts. If our hearts are not in sync with His, He has a way of testing us to see what is truly within us concerning obeying his instructions. The inner man is where He wants to dwell but it must be Holy. Many can see the beauty of the Sanctuary standing in the court, but very few knew the beauty of being in the inner most part where the Lord dwelt. We as people have a tendency to focus on the outside but it is the Father who is searching out ALL the rooms of the inner man. If the Word is to be internalized then it must be in our hearts. Yeshua repeatedly taught in parables and said to his listeners, “He who has an ear, let him hear.” If our hearts are connected to the Father then we should be able to perceive the intent of His Word. On one occasion God spoke but most heard thunder and not a voice. The condition of the inner man will outweigh what we get to see on the inside. We as a body have to go beyond the place where we are a community that just happens to get together on Shabbat and feast days to encourage and support each other. We must be about internalizing His Word in our hearts by hearing and doing what He has commanded us to do as a testimony to others.
