The Value of Longsuffering
In Scripture, Noah is called a “just man” — צדיק tzadik - i.e. “righteous.” Noah was born into a perverse generation regarded as “violent” and “corrupt,” yet in spite of his environment, he did the right thing and encouraged others to do so as well. He was “perfect in his generations…and walked with God.” He didn’t mix and coexist with the culture as did his society. To some degree, he emulated the attributes of God. The Father, however, is much more long suffering, compassionate and forgiving than we tend to be. His mercy doesn’t equate to approval. It is just that, being long suffering, He is not willing that any should perish. If Noah was chosen to give rest for that generation; we too have been chosen. By extent, If we are living in the days of Noah, then we are a chosen generation that, like Noah, has been given a set time to fulfill our purpose. Part of that purpose is to demonstrate His long suffering by replicating it.
